Below are some of my new sheets, with measurements etc. i have also begun to make my models and these are the ones i’ve made with the laser cutter. i’ve still got to paint them. im also working on my renders to get some really good shots of the dweltel.

A Cocoon and a bathroom

After speaking with ephraim, we discussed the way in which the dweltel was enclosed by the partitions. The partitions were not doing the dweltel justice and did not fit in with the rest of the design. Ephraim spoke about cocooning the dweltel so it was all enclosed. I really liked this idea and so looked at actual cocoons to get my shape design. It is organic and curved and so i felt fitted in well with what i wanted. I have also extended the cocoon so that it it protrudes slightly from the centre point building. It is almost like a balcony but enclosed. I also thought about what julia said and using colour on it so i made it an opaque green (taken from the cocoon) and this then provides some privacy but also allows light through the space.

The dweltel also needed to have a bathroom in it. I have designed this to fit into one of the sections of the cocoon and i based my design to fit in with the cocoon shape. This is now ensuring that all the needs of the user are met with the dweltel.

These are not my final renders, im still working on getting a few key really good images and working on my section and elevation within centre point as at the moment they look like floating jelly.

This is just another way the dweltel could be implemented in the space. I dont like it as much as the deluxe dweltel however. It could be as its not as warped and organic as the furniture and so doesnt look right.

This is an updated version of my proposed link. I have changed how the local linked amentities are displayed, hopefully making them clearer. I’ve also included trails to show the quickest way to the amentities and the times it will to take to walk there. This should make it clearer how the dweltel is linked to the city around it and how it is included as part of the dweltel experience.

The Deluxe Dweltel

A developement for the dweltel would be to spread it over the two floors. This would mean that the work space and the living space are more divided and makes it more of a luxiourous dweltel with more space. A concept which could mean that this is the deluxe dweltel for directors and md’s of companies while the standard dweltels are for the general workers. It would be the same concept that companies use when booking hotels, the higher you are the nicer your room usually is. To get from one floor to another I have created a curved staircase which leads through the floor plate to the level below.

This video is a promotional video for the Dweltel. Its a very rough version as have limited editing facilities as home. I want to add music and work on the tranisitons. its also too long at the moment. i just wanted to show what the dweltel can offer to prospective clients. I have used target space as the owners of dweltel and took some of there promotional writing to mix in with the dweltel video. hopefully i’ll be able to create a better one for tuesday!

This shows how the plan could look on an office floor solely for a dweltel layout. i am currently working on my measurements for dweltel pieces and drawings for the laser cutter, which will hopefully be completed in the next couple of days.

technical(ish) drawings

I have drawn my furniture out and stuck with using my skeletons to show people for continuanity. I wanted to try and get clear shapes and scales of my furniture. I need to work on my drawings further and work out how to draw them so they can be laser cut for the centre point model. This means I need to figure out all my measurements as well. I also want to work on my plans, sections and elevations showing the dweltel implemented and guess i need to show how the furniture goes together in drawings as well??? I have a trip to centre point next week so I can develop my plan with photos of local amentities that will fit in with the dweltel card and maybe the marketing material i want to create to go with the dweltel. the marketing may be a film or a catalogue i havent decided which yet.

shaping the Chair and bed

I spoke of making certain parts of my furniture more ergonomic in its design. To do this I took the figure of a skeleton to see the way the body is shaped and based the shape which the person will actually use around this. I have included the figures of the skeletons in my design to make it clear how the shape is formed. For the chair the shell is still the orginal egg shape from my designs and the bed is also one of my warped eggs shape. My next steps are to re-draw these from scratch in blender and then to make models of these.

Dweltel Film

This is a walkthrough of my Dweltel in blender. I couldnt make the actual camera work so did the old ‘film the screen’ trick. Because of this the colours, shading etc are not correct and the partitions appear to have a strange effect on them but it looks quite interesting. Having a film like this would be a good way of promoting the Dweltel and showing how it can be used to prespective clients. I would like to make a film like this to go with my final presentation, as think it would fit in well with the Dweltel card idea as well.
